Individual Therapy
People seek therapy for many reasons. If you find yourself feeling stuck in patterns that are not working for you, overwhelmed by challenges, struggling in a relationship, or unsure how to make changes in your life then individual therapy can be a good fit for you. Individual therapy may help you to explore your goals, address obstacles and solutions in new ways, or address things that may be preventing you from living your fullest life.
Child & Adolescent Therapy
Working with children and teens is a specialized field in which our therapists provide the essential connection and comfort your child needs to grow and get the most out of their counseling experience. We work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure your child feels empowered to learn to take charge of positive changes in their lives. If your child is struggling with self-esteem, anxiety, behavioral issues, parent/child conflict, academic issues, family transitions (divorce/separation), grief/loss, or just having a rough time with the many challenges that come with growing up, we are here to help.
Parenting & Family Therapy
Our therapists recognize parenting and managing family dynamics is one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs in the world! We know no one gets a manual on how to raise another human being; so we are here to make the job a little easier. Working with your therapist you will discuss how to best meet the unique needs of your family. Through a collaborative approach, we identify your goals, learn essential tools, and create a concrete plan to help your family build a more calm, cooperative, and connected home life.
Marriage & Couple's Therapy
No matter what stage a relationship is in, there are many reasons a couple might find therapy helpful. Whether you are looking to address a specific issue within your relationship, looking to build stronger connections, better communication, or learn more effective ways to work together as a team, couples counseling can be a perfect way to work towards your relationship goals.
Questions About Our Therapy & Counseling Programs
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN MY FIRST THERAPY SESSION?
In your first, or “Intake Session,” you will have the opportunity to review your goals and expectations of treatment, review your intake paperwork, and begin to get to know your therapist. We know the key to successful therapy is feeling comfortable with your therapist, so we always encourage our clients to be open and honest about their experience in sessions from the start so that we can maintain a successful and collaborative space for you. Therapy allows you to talk about your challenges, address negative patterns, or confront issues you may have been putting off addressing and that may feel hard at times. That is exactly what our supportive approach is here for! It’s our mission to help you reach your goals, so let us know how things are going for you along the way.
HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION AND HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. In the beginning stages of building your goals and working towards them, you meet with your therapist once a week. In building successful change, consistency is key in order to get you where you want to go. As we start to build your goals, build essential tools and work towards the changes you want to make, we re-evaluate how sessions are going for you and adjust accordingly. We also recognize that the therapy process is not the same for every person, so there may be times that longer or more/less frequent sessions can be helpful depending on your individual goals. If you have any other questions along the way, your therapist is always happy to answer them.
DO YOU OFFER ONLINE APPOINTMENTS?
YES! South Bay Wellness gives our clients the ability to meet with a counselor virtually from the comfort of your own home, office or even while traveling! If you are interested in virtual Telehealth please let us know and we can discuss how to set this option up for you in the client portal.
HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?
Session fees range from $175-$300 per session. Why a range? We have pre-licensed masters degree level counselors as well as licensed psychotherapists who hold advanced degrees and specialized training to allow our clients to have access to counselors that best fit their needs. Sessions are typically 50 minutes but may be shorter or longer based on the needs of each client. Payment is collected at the time of service and we provide the ease of online credit/debit/FSA card payment options for all our clients.
We are first and foremost mental health advocates, and reserve a limited number of sliding scale appointments for clients faced with true financial hardship. If you need to speak to someone about a sliding scale appointment please contact southbaywellnessca@gmail.com. We also have a vast list of resources to make sure everyone who wants help gets it, whether that is with us or another provider.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
South Bay Wellness and its providers are not “In-Network” with any insurance panels at this time. However, we offer an exclusive insurance coverage check service to our clients in which we can call your insurance company on your behalf to verify your “Out-of-Network” behavioral health coverage. You will know up front if your policy will reimburse you for behavioral health services. We provide all clients with a monthly “Superbill” for insurance reimbursement upon request.
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?
When you are ready to get started you can book a session by clicking the "Book Appointment" link below. You'll have the ability to pick a day and time to schedule your initial intake. If you know a certain available weekly session time works for your schedule going forward, let your therapist know so they can reserve that weekly session time for you as soon as possible. You can also call (424) 277-0858 or email southbaywellnessca@gmail.com directly for any questions or to book a session.
HOW DO I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
We understand things come up, people get sick and life gets busy. We pride ourself on being available and accessible to all our clients during our committed availability. We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment so that we can allow clients on our waitlist or new clients to be notified of an opening if they should need to reschedule or book an appointment last minute as well. Appointments cancelled without 24 hours notice are billed for the missed session.
HOW DO I CHOOSE BETWEEN THERAPY OR Wellness CONSULTING?
Traditional therapy focuses on treating mental health related issues (such as mood disorders, substance abuse, behavioral issues, etc.) Therapy services include a formal intake, assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan. Our therapists hold a minimum of a Masters Degree and are licensed and/or registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences to perform psychotherapy services in the state of California, and are mandated to participate in annual continuing education. Clients requesting reimbursement from their insurance company are required to grant access to their patient records (including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment) oftentimes for possible reimbursement of session fees.
Wellness Consulting, addresses areas where a client may still wish to overcome challenges, create a strategy to reach a goal, or build key elements of their personal and/or professional growth but are not currently addressing a mental health issue. Wellness consultants may also be licensed or registered therapists, however are not required to hold such a license by law. ALL Wellness Consultants employed by South Bay Wellness are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Counseling Science, meet minimum experience standards, and attend annual continuing education to the standards of a licensed professional.
If you are not sure which service is right for you please contact us and we will set up a free planning consultation to see which service is the right fit for you
